Smoking H update

This is a bit embarassing, but apparently the H smoking was do to unremoved shop towels in the air cleaner. I had put them in there when painting. Stupid, eh? Just thought you'd like to know.

LOL, good man. EVeryone has done something like that in their lifetime. Ask me if I ever dumped 5 quarts of fresh oil in the driveway because I didn't put the drain plug back in. Couldn't for the life of me figure out why there was no oil on the dip stick......until I looked down at the ground.

Ask me if I ever spent 2 hours trying to start a Farmall Cub, and finally a buddy showed up and turned on the fuel! Fired right up.

Ask me if I ever.........you get the picture.

Best part is that you can admit it and laugh about it. Almost like a rite of passage.

when I rebuilt my H I had the whole tractor back together minus the tins and when I fired it up for the first time she ran like a champ by PUKED oil out like crazy!! come to find out I never plugged the oil galley at the back of the block after I cleaned it..... live and learn right?

When I worked at a dealership we had an M that was used with a mounted corn picker come in for new sleeves and pistons. It had been overhauled twice but still had no power and smoked a lot. It ran fine after I removed all the corn silks that were plugging the air cleaner.

I also worked on a F656 where the owners were complaining that new sleeves and pistons would last less than a year. The tractor was about 15 years old at the time and still had the original production (they had a P ink stamped on them) air filter in it.
