Super C PTO slipping?

The PTO on my Super C will slow down and stop under a load. It spins back up when load is lessened. Can someone explain the phenomena and how to go about fixing it? THANKS!

A SC has only the 'master'clutch. If it's slipping,it needs either adjusting or replaceing. There is no 'clutch' on the pto.only shifts in or out of gear.

Is it likely to be the clutch if the main drive is not slipping? Would something else cause these symptoms? What's the fix? Thx!

If the clutch is not slipping, then the pto engagement 'dogs' are worn out.dismantle the thuing and have a look. Are you SURE the clutch is not slipping?test it.Put in low gear and hook it to a HEAVY load.It should kill the engine before the clutch slips.

If you verify the main clutch isn't slipping, it may be a sheared woodruff key. The PTO has one pair of gears. The output shaft is keyed to the lower gear. If it has sheared, the PTO is only driving by how tight the gear is on the shaft.

o need to do anything hazardous. Just put it in 4th gear and get on the brakes. Push the throttle open and ease the clutch in. You should be able to stall the engine.

As Jim says you have a shorn key as the splines that drive the PTO would not act that way there are no "clutches" in the PTO.
