1947 M carb model?

IH designed their own carburetors. The part number is on a small riveted disc on throat of carb.

I figued it was on a tag or cast into the body, like anyone else's, but you have to have a carb to see it. I don't, hence the the question.

(quoted from post at 19:19:55 05/05/13) IH model E-12 number 50983DB on a gasoline engine.

#47387 is the distillate carb, but can be rebuilt using the 50983 parts and will then be the same. Most of the 47387 carbs have already had this done.

Ya, that would put a different slant on the question. You have to explain things to us old guys.

If you go to a parts man and ask for a kit using that information, he will stare at you like you've got an extra arm growing out of your head.

Just say, "I need a rebuild kit for a Farmall M carburetor," and they will hand you what you need.

If you got to NAPA, they DO want to know the exact model.
