Farm down the road is closing up shop...

They've set all their equipment out by the road with For Sale signs on them... I noticed a good sized tractor that said "International" on the side. It also said "Hydro"... Is this a particularly good tractor? Is that enough information to ask that question? It's got a pretty even coating of rust and looks like a 6' bush hog-type mower behind it - may be a "set". I haven't had time to stop and check the price, but I did notice that it was driven to where it was parked... Tires look to be in ok condition also (from what I could tell driving past @ 55MPH)... If it's still there Saturday, I may stop and check on it... I hope my wife doesn't find out...

Hydros are great tractors.A couple things you heed
to 'look' at...IH made several models of Hydro
tractors.From about 50 hp to over 100 hp.From the
mid 60s to the early /mid 80s.Pictured is a 1970
826.Around 85 horse.Also a '70 1026(115
horse),lastly is a '74 Hydro 100(100horse)Don't
listen to the "naysayers".Ivve owned 3,been around
them all my life.Steve

Yeah Chip, not even close to enough information...

Usually there is also a model number emblem on the side of the tractor somewhere. Most of them will be on the lower front of the radiator side panel when you're talking IH hydros.

Diesel hydros are the most desirable because hydro is inefficient and diesel compensates for that some. Gas hydros are good if you don't care how much fuel you use and you're just using it for winter feeding.

I stopped on the way back from school and took a quick look... I had to park maybe 20 yards away from it. The closer I got the bigger it got. This thing is a monster! No way my wife would let me have it - doesn't matter how much it costs... It is a 1066... And I think it is an 8' bush-hog type mower behind it... The back axles stick out a foot on either side of the tires (I guess it is already set up to be a dually)... All I can say is, wow, this thing makes my MF35 seem tiny...

I'd kill for a 1066 hydro, post up some pics and maybe a #. If I can't swing it maybe someone else here can.
Will do... May be the weekend before I can get one of them round tuits....
