Farmall A hood Fasteners

I am restoring an 1941 A. I think it might have had its hood and grille replaced at some point because the old hood had dzus fasteners. I ordered a hood that had the j hooks and already have it painted. what do the j hooks fasten to? I dont see anything for them to secure to and cant find any pictures showing this. I dont really see how the dzus fasteners work either. Can someone shed some light on this for me? Thanks!
 
The J hooks as you call them sit on tabs or lock on taps. My BA ha the J hook set up on the hood but being it should not be since it is half B and half A. The Dzus fasteners have a slot that has an over center sort of thing and a spring so that you turn them to a over center sort of thing anf they then lock. Hard to explain
 
If they are like the B the front ones catch the top radiator brackets and the back ones hook over the turned down edges of front corners of gas tank.
 
Y6ou got the wrong hood as it will not fasten because your tractor has the duez fasteners. The radiator housing is made for them also as its different for the j-hooks. You can remove the fasteners from the gas tank and replace with a piece of angle iron to make the j-hooks work but then yu are stuck with the radiator. Better getting hood with the duez fasteners they are available new sell or return yours.
 
For your info the B also had the duez fasteners early. as they all came off the same assy line in Chicago till 47.
 
Google DZUS FASTENERS, they have been used on aircraft extensively for decades.
The ones for your tractor are available on this site as well as OEM, Steiners and many others.
