460 cooling

Just finished complete overhaul of a 460 gas Farmall. Runs great but after working it for 30 - 45 minutes and then stopping it, coolant comes gushing out of radiator. Temp gauge while working it is in normal range and oil pressure is 40 psi+. Anyone have idea what I should check?

Water temp goes up when the engine is shut off and there is no circulation. 1st thing I would do is replace the radiator cap. Even with the correct cap that can still happen.

cool it down at at 900 rpm idle first before shut down. its not like your vehicle, that you just turn the key off. working engines need cool down time.
and presuming no cracks in head , as you say complete o/h.
