My farmall 100 tractor has oil coming out of the inside of the shaft where the bolt is,on the seed plate drive shaft. Is there an oil seal that goes inside with bolt, there is nothing on bolt but two spacers and lock washer. Thanks Tuck

The 4 capscrews around the axle hold the seal. Remove them and the seal will come off with the stamped sheet metal retainer.

Did you just install this or has it been on and just started leaking? It doesn't seem like there is really any path for oil to come out next to the bolt.

As I recall, the bolt should go through a special flat washer, then the bushing (the part the sprocket pins to) then goes directly into the end of the axle with no other parts in the stack. When bolted in, the bushing should be tightly held to the axle, no wiggle. Some improper assembly or the bolt running loose might create a path for oil to get out.

Jim I relpaced the oilseal in the retainer and it fixed that leak. I think I will make a homemade seal for the inside shaft. Thanks for your help. Tuck

Maybe an o-ring added in the right place would seal it. You may have to study it a while to decide where it is leaking through.

Jim,

They made some changes with the 100 from the Super A. There are two o-rings, one is square in cross section. The sizes are in the parts book. I found the parts on ebay to change my super A and it helped a lot with the leak around the bolt.

I was not aware of that. Since the parts interchange, it becomes an open question as to which are on any particular tractor.
