I have a exhaust valve that is sticking after the engine warms up. The engine is a IH C-153. It runs fine cold but when it warms up it keeps sticking open and then works a little then sticks again. When it sticks ,engine off all you have to do to free it is just touch it and it snaps closed.anyone have a cure for this problem?

This is a bit different than a stuck valve on an F series, The F series commonly have valves stick during long storage. I say this is a whole different animal. Valves sticking in a running C153 tells me you need a new valve and valve guide because that valve is damaged or burnt and getting hot and seizing.

Try mixing say 3 gal of gas with a quart of ATF and run that. If it is form carbon the ATF will help clean it up and that will free it up. Also pour a bit in the exhaust if it is up right so that it can soak over night ATF that is

What do you mean by "pour it in the exhaust," old?

Like, dump it down the muffler? How do you know it's getting where it needs to get to soak?

There's always going to be one exhaust valve at some stage of open. The ATF is going to run out that valve, down into the cylinder. Seems like you'd need to dump gallons of ATF down the muffler and fill everything up.
