560D Battery

What group size of battery or batteries do you all use on your 560 diesels? I just got a 560D and besides needing new batteries, the rear hoods are missing(have some on the way). The two 12 volts in parallel that are in it now are huge and I'm not sure the hood panels would go on with them. Wanting to go ahead and get batteries before the hoods get here. Thanks.

I get my batteries at the junk yard or salvage yard. $20.00 each and most of them are one to two months old. The 560 doesn't know the differance.

The last 560D I put new batteries in, what seemed to work the best was auto 12 volt 600-800 amp (fleet store special), But run individual cables to the starter (fleet gauge cable as well), makes all the difference, that 560 would start down to 20 degrees with just the glow plugs without smoke of any kind

I am thinking 560D have group 24 batteries. But its been over 30 years since I owned one.

In todays technology why would you tie 6 volt batt's to any diesel? four 6 volts in a JD elec start 2 cyl? why? for diesel fuel to combust, it is temp, speed and comp? faster the turn better the start

I'm just saying that they came with 2-6 volt batteries and on that 560 if you don't get the glow plugs heated up before you start cranking you're going to have a hard if not impossible time to get it started.

I have 2 group 65's in mine same ones used in ford powerstrokes works great been in there since 08 wired parallel
