Stainless steel bolts, nuts, washers

I have a 1940 H that is still 6 volt, and I would
like to keep it that way. I am building new
battery cables out of 2/0 welding lead with
crimped lugs. I am going to follow that up by
using heat shrink tubing on the ends.

Does it make sense to use stainless steel nuts,
bolts, and washers at the electrical connections
such as the starter bolt where the ground
connection is made, the starter lug, and at the
starter switch? I am thinking that since stainless
is less resistant to corrosion that it would be
one more line of defense. Of course, whichever way
I go, I will coat the connections with dielectric
grease.

Less resistant to corrosion???? Anyhow, I have used stainless on battery cables and they corrode differently. They just get smaller, you put it on in the spring with a 7/16 and in the fall you need a 3/8! Not worth the cost.

Excellent idea. I"ve used stainless bolts / nuts / washers / lock-washers on Farmalls, MF"s, lawn mowers, Chev p/u"s batterys for many years. No corrosion, no oxide buildup, no rusting. Works great. I"ve used ordinary Type 304, but Type 316 would also work.
