What is a 986 mint conditions never
farmed with shed keep shows 177 hours
but has less then 50 hours

I saw a 786 in beautiful original condition and a 2350 loader also in beautiful original condition with around 1500 hours sell at $17,500 at auction.

By comparison that 986 should be worth around $35,000, because the 786 had been used some.

Electric hour meter with the key left on can rack up hours without running.

It happens.

They can put on about 500 hours before the batteries go dead.

Don"t ask how I know.

I didn't think the hour meter worked that way on the 86 series - even the electronic ones. I thought they calculated it the same as the mechanical hour meters - as measured at 1750 RPM.

I could be wrong since we only had one with a digital hour meter and its been well over 20 years since I've been around it.

Hour meters on a knob digital tach are powered through a oil sending unit on engine, no oil pressure, no hour reading unless switch sticks which they do. The touch panel data center reads hours off tachometer sending unit with flywheel turning. Reads by time regardless of rpm. Some of them would malfunction and read no hours for a while and then the little wheels would take off like crazy and run up a bunch of hours. Saw that a few times when they were new. Really zips but usually only runs up maybe 10 or 20 hours on the ones I came across.
