300/350 Utility: Anyone using 15 inch front tires? What t...

I"d thinking about putting front tires that are a little wider on my 300 utility (has loader) in place of the current 6.00 x 16.

I"m guessing it will be easier to find 15-inch 6-bolt rims that would fit the hubs than trying to find original rims for 7.50 x 16 tires.

Anyone currently using 15 inch tires on a 300 or 350 utility and can provide tire and rim sizes used? I would think implement floatation would be better than ribbed?

I have a Farmall 400 row crop with a loader and wide front end and am using a standard 6-bolt 15" implement rim with tri-rib 7.50-15 8-ply tires. At least 1" of clearance between axle and tire. If I come across a set of wider rims, I'll be going up to 9.5L-15 implement tires.

A 6 bolt rim with the center spacing you need can most likely still be had from any decent tire shop, be it a 15 or 16 inch rim and should be available in a variety of widths. Just watch your spindle clearances (and overall width if you have a narrow bucket on the loader if you don't want to run down what you're pushing/loading). Watch where everything ends up when you're making a full turn either way, too. Stuff might rub that didn't before.

My 460U had 7.60-15 tires on it when I bought it. Only reason I changed them to 7.50-16 is the 7.60-15's were rib implement tires, and I had the 16" rims and new 4-rib fronts in the corner of the shed.

There should be many options in tire and rim sizes available in both 15 and 16 inch that will get the height and width you want for the front of that tractor. Some low-profile sizes are available for front tractor tires, too.

The front axles on the 300U tractors did have differences. My 300U is an early model and has spindles that lean the wheel and tire in at the bottom, and out at the top. According to my owner's manual this was a design to allow easier steering effort. But the tires generally ride on the center and outer ribs, with almost no wear on the inner rib. This setup does not lend itself to being compatable with a wide flotation tire and wide wheel. A friend had a 350U with the front tires standing straight up, so that could be compatable with wider tires. When did the change in spindle angles occur?? I do not know.

On my 350 I"ve got 11L-15 turf tires w/6 hole rims. You can see a picture of it if you search
