I need an alignment shaft or tool to install my clutch on my Farmall 450 gas. Does anyone know the size or where I can get one.
Thanks:

I bought a universal clutch alignment tool at Harbor Freight. It has different size pilot bearing adapters and different sized mandrels for the clutch plate.

Also, doesn't the input shaft for the TA come off easily? When we did the TA clutch on Dad's W400 I seem to remember that it just slid out. He used it to align the main clutch after he pulled it to check its condition while the tractor was split.

I have done several tractor clutches WITHOUT a linement tool.Just CAREFULLY 'eyeball' the disk to make sure its centered. They usually go together without a 'hitch'.I also have one of those cheap Harbor Freight universal tools.Works good for a car but too small for a tractor....A few wraps of duct, electrical, masking, etc tape in the appropriate places will make it work...You can also make one with a round (rod,bolt,conduit/tubing,wood dowel) and several layers of tape

Ive always just used the IPTO shaft to line up the clutch when i put it on the flywheel since it just slides out. easy to do and one less tool to buy

Hang the PP and driven disc on the shafts in the center housing. Roll er together. Then put in the six PP bolts thru the inspection hole on the bottom of the center housing.

If you really really want to use an alignment tool, just take a rod. Wrap end with masking tape or what ever tape you have. Make it fit pilot bearig and then farther back fit the internal splines. That being said, leave the "capped" pressure plate and disk hang on pto and transmission shaft. Install plate from underneath, just keep checking as you push it together that the pressure plate is not hanging up on edge of flywheel. I have seen some very badly deformed pressure plates over the years when too many helpers pushed or pulled a tractor together. I did a ton of them that way before I got smart and left plate off until later. Much easier and NO helpers please.
