My 1965 706 Gasser is a 12 volt system with a 12 volt generator. Can I simply replce the generator with an alternator without any other modifications? Thanks, Cmore

You would have to do a little bit of wiring but that would not be all that hard to do. 2 simple wires if you use a Delco 10si and your done plus a diode

Where's the diode go?? And how many wired from my generator now, vs the 2 wire alternator?? I think 3 wires on the generator?? Cmore

With a delco 10si you have one wire that goes to the amp gauge which would be #10 If it is not - ground that would need changed. The there is the 2 wire plug on the alternator. It is marked #1 and #2. The #2 wire goes to the big stud which is also where the wire hooks going to the amp gauge. The #1 wire has the diode radio shack 276-1661 works well the sliver band to the alternator and then wire ran to the ignition side of coil and your done. You might be able to use the one wire from the generator if it goes to the amp gauge and as I said you have to be sure it is wired - ground
