Char-lynn power steering unit

Saw this in the classified adds on YT. Wondered if it would fit my H. Its kind of a booger to steer with 16 in. truck tires for floatation and a loader.

I put one on my M farmall that came off a WD45 Allis, I had to change the mounting brackets, brackets can be made or some are available from parts houses or junk yards. The torque generator and pump from Char Lynn are the same for most older tractors I guess.
 
you can get the correct brackets new from force america if you cant find good uded ones. they also have parts to repair these torque generator motors. a friend on mine told me about them and we both think they are reasonable on their prices and usually have what you need. Besides they are one of the only places to actually have individual parts for these steering units.
 
Would I be able to use a GM power steering pump with that torque generator? I have a few of those hanging on the wall in the shed. Kinda trying to make the ol' H steer easier on a budget. Thanks for all the replies! Kippster

Dad had a JD 60 with a Char-Lynn torque generator and a Saginaw (GM) pump. I don't know what exact car or truck the pump was made for, but the one I had on a '55 Olds S-88 looked very similar. If you can find or make the mounting bracket, one of them should work if it has the integral reservoir.
 
With the right mounting brackets, any power steering pump and reservoir will work with the Charlynn unit. Saginaw (GM) or Eaton pumps are commonly used.
