valvle tune on a Super C

I looked all through the internet to find out the procedure to tune my valves after a motor job on my Super C. It made is sound like I could rotate my front piston to TDC on the compression stoke, then .014 clearance on both valves of the 1 and 3 piston. Then rotate to the compression stroke of #2 and adjust all valves of 2 and 4. When I did this the exhaust valve of both 3 and four seemed way off. (I turned it over a few times by hand.) I went back and adjusted them back on each individual cylinder's compression stroke. It starts and sounds right but i am worried I'm going to burn a valve. Am I way off? Thanks in advance

It is just for future reference at this point.

Put engine on #1 TDC compression and adjust valves 1,2,3 and 5 from the front. Give the engine 1 fulll revolution and adjust valves 4, 6, 7 and 8.

Both Jims are correct. Either method will result in properly adjusted valves.

The important part is to adjust the valves when they are fully CLOSED.
