SMTA fast hitch

The SMTA that I just bought has part of what I assume is a fast hitch for that era of tractor. There is no hyd cylinder on the unit or hyd lines going to the back. It appears the hitch was last used only in a stationary position. There is a good sized chain under the left pulling arm, goes under the PTO unit and is wrapped around the right axle. Does anyone have a picture of the fast hich for this tractor or know of a book with a picture? Hopefully I can get the manuals in a couple of weeks at the tractor show.

Google super mta 2 point hitch or fast hitch on images.... they didn't come from factory like that but had casting modes so they was getting ready for the 400's

SMTA's did not have a fast hitch out of the factory. I have seen a couple with fast hitch on them but not sure how it is done. Assume that you must have to use parts from a 400 or 450.

Does your hitch have a rockshaft across the back? As far as I know, you can mount a 450 FH with rockshaft on a SMTA, but to mount the old style 400 FH, you have to replace the SMTA top cover with one from a 400 or modify the existing top cover. They are completely different hitches. Wardner is the probably the the resident expert on this.

I put a fast hitch off a 560 on mine, very easy to do. A early 400 won"t fit right and if you do you have to change the deck plate or make a bracket to make it work. I have a loader on it and the fast hitch completes the package. It"s great for moving things around the place.
