Farmall C Throttle Linkage

Why are there two hole in the throttle lever handle???, and why would you switch the long and short springs on the end on the throttle lever were it attaches to the governor on the right side??? I own 2 C"s and when at idle, the throttle lever is about 1/2 way.I have included a couple pics. Thanks

The Throttle on many Farmalls does nothing for about 1/2 to 1/3 of the travel. Pretty normal.
If the lever pulls the governor arm all the way to the stop It is as good as it gets. (I do not know about the holes. Jim

Mine idles around half it will idle with the throttle all the way back for a little bit before it dies

If the gov is in good shape and linkage set to the carb you will have good response all the way with throttle.

Just completely rebuilt the govenor on my Super C. It does the same thing now. It will idle at about 1/2 throttle and is wide open in the last notch. It did not do that before the overhaul. The bushings and spring were bad in it.
