No, no, it's not on it's last breath. LOL It was time to change Hy Tran and I wasn't set up with the bulk oil in the new shop so I thought I'd "tip the bottle" on her and try filling straight from the barrel. I used a clear hose that would just barely slip into the fill tube, maybe 1/2" inside diameter. I did have the dipstick out so the tranny could breathe, but it still took forever, maybe an hour and a half. The hose was not restricted and the barrel was vented. Anyway, I had the time so it didn't slow me down from doing something else. Just thought I'd share the pic. Jim

Don't forget to put the breather cap back on. I added some oil in my 1486 last fall and laied the cap on the fender, forgot to put it back on and drove off. If you do that it will cost you an extra $52.80 from your CaseIH dealer.

Far as I can remember this is the original breather cap but now I'm under pressure to keep the record clean. LOL Wish I could say the same about the fuel cap. When that fuel burps out of the fill hole after the cap has been left off it makes a BIG mess. Jim

So are you running the tractor while doing this or did you drain it then just filling it?

Only asking because when I flush pickup transmissions I unhook the cooler return hose and stick it in one bucket and stick the other end in a fresh bucket, I run it until the fluid looks clean. Didnt know if there was a way to do this on a tractor.
