Farmall 706 gas crank seals

Hi there. I"ve got a leaking rear engine seal on my 706. I haven"t looked that close to see if the seals are replaceable without removing the crankshaft or not. I have a feeling they aren"t and I"m wondering if someone could fill me in.
Thanks for now.

The C-263, the seal is replaced by splitting the tractor and removing the flywheel. Was going to do it on my 560 but found out there was no sealer applied to the threads of the bolts that held the flywheel on. They are drilled through into the crankcase. We pulled it apart and there is a dowl for alignment, there was another opposite of it and it also went into the crankcase from the back. Ended up with silicone but still get a little dribble once and a while from the back running down the plate on the back. There also could be the seals on the sides of the main bearing block that slides into the engine block holding the rear seal in place. A couple things to look for.Hope it goes well for you, When we got the 560 apart the clutch springs were broke and ended up changing the TA clutch also when it was split. This can get into a large can of worms when you open it up. Good luck.

Hi again and thanks for the replies. The worst thing is that I just put the tractor back together after having it split. I had oil leaking, hydraulic oil, and found the ipto shaft seal was damaged. So I replaced the seals, cleaned everything and put her back together. Now the oil leaking is much less and darker, engine oil, but still leaking. I guess I focused too much on the hydraulic issue. I put about 16 hours on it spreading manure over this weekend and its wet and dripping around the back of the oilpan and through the inspection hole under the clutch. I can live with it for now but I"m still wondering about the crank seals.
Thanks.

On my 706-c263 there was the oil was almost running out of the inspection plate near and below back of oil pan.Dropped the pan, removed the rear mainbearing block and put the sealnt compound on sides and back surfices of the mainbearing block and that was the end of the oil leaking, dont use silicone though.there is a compound made just for that purpose. Was changing out bearings any way.

Hello again. I"ll try dropping the pan and the sealant around the bearing block. If that doesn"t work, I guess I"ll be good at splitting and joining! Thanks for all the replies.

The rear seal is a one piece lip seal that is installed after the rear main cap is installed.

Dropping the rear main cap could lead to a mandatory split to install a new seal.
