Stripped threads on carb

I have been long overdue for a carb rebuild & a new kit installed. As I was taking off the carb from the manifold today, I noticed one of the threads are stripped on the carb. Is there anything I can do to make sure I get a good seat when I re-install my carb/gasket back on to the manifold? Or is my only option to replace the whole carb?

Get the proper sized helicoil insert & feel secure . I've had to do it on a 4 barrel once . Never regretted the time or money spent .God bless, Ken

Well now, what is stripped?

IH carbs generally have studs and nuts to hold them to the manifold.

Is the stud stripped? Is the carb body itself stripped?

IF it's just the stud you can replace it easy enough.

IF the carb body is stripped, depending on the tractor you might be able to just run a bolt in from the top and put a nut on the bottom.

+1. I have seen many tractors where if the manifold or carb body is stripped then a bolt and nut is utilized - assuming the manifold throat design and carb throat design permit it (most do). This is by far the cheapest and easiest way to repair it.

A male or female threading die may work -- that is the simplest method if it is in at least fair shape.

I have fixed that type of problem in a few different ways. One is a simple nut on a longer bolt. Another is a helo-coil and also going to the next size bigger bolt
