6 V hour meter on SH

It should work off 6 volts. I have an hour meter
that's 24 volts and I use 12 volts. It's been on my garden tractor for years. They use to have goverment auctions where I worked. It was in a box that had bearings and that hour meter. It was used, but it still works. They even sold farm tractors and trucks. If it cost too much to repair them they would sell them. Hal

I went out to my garden tractor to see how many hours I had put on it. I installed it 1979 and I've put 537 hours on it 34 years. I've never rebuilt the engine even though I had over heated the engine when plowing the garden. I found a mouse nest behind the fan shroud. I quit keeping cleaning rags laying out in the shed. Hal

Depends on the meter. The original "Hobbs" 12 volt, solenoid-wound mechanical (clockwork) meters do not work reliably on 6 volts. However many newer electronic meters will work fine.

I have one of these on my 6 volt Super H. It's rated for 4 to 40 volts DC.

I have a similar unit. It won't start running until 6.8 volts, so if the generator is charging, it runs. Sometimes I have to open the regulator and give the contacts a tap to get charging started.
