Rebuilt the engine in my H, thought I"d like to keep track of how many hours I put on it. My wife gifted me with an hour meter. Got to looking at it, white plastic, with its flimsy chrome mounting bracket. In the process of designing a mounting tube to mount it under the fuel tank, behind the belt pulley system. Have two designs so far.

Now hook it up to a switch that works off of engine oil pressure so if you leave the ignition switch on it doesn't keep adding hours. You can also hook the wire to excite a alternator to it
 
I like that oil pressure switch idea ...
I wonder if there is a second hole in the block I could attach the switch or if I would have to run a T off the hole for the oil pressure gauge.
 
I have one very similar to yours on a garden tractor. I connected it to the A terminal on the Delco generator as it only gets power when the engine is running. Hal
 
keep it out of the weather, i doubt if it"s built for outdoor use. i have had several fail due to water and/or vibration

Yes there is. On the right side of the block at the same height as where the oil pressure gauge line attaches, about half-way towards the front of the engine you will see a small set screw, it is 1/8" pipe thread and has an Allen head. Remove it and screw in your pressure switch.
