Rear wheel clamps

On my H, the wheel clamps are to me backwards. I remove the nut from the inside. The jam nut won"t budge, therefore making it very hard to take the wheel and tire off. Is there a right or wrong way for these clamps?

So by "No" i guess tomorrow i get the big tools out and try to get the jam nuts off. Thanks for the reply.

It"s early and the cup o" isn"t down very far, but I don"t remember any "jam nuts". I think my H clamps just bolt on, with two big bolts in the outside clamp, and two in the inside clamp. Big old socket ought to do it.

On mine the wheels are dished out and then the nut is on the outside. the best way is to turn your wheels around and not monkey with the lock nuts. I have seen them where they were rusted solid in the wheel.

The correct way is the way you put them on. My M does not have jamb nuts, centers are dished in and nuts are facing out...doesn't matter. What ever is best for you!

Well after much of a struggle finally got the first
wheel and tire off. Wire brush, couple more shots of Gibbs, BIGGER cheater, and a little cussing. Will for sure be putting them back on the other way around. Now on to see if I can get the bead broke on the tire.
