Tractor Cover and Hydraulic Hoses

Hello all I hope everyone"s project is going as well as mine. I have almost finished my super h project. My questions are first does anyone have any grand ideas on cleaning paint and grime off hydraulic hoses. My second question is that ive currently got my tractor covered in black plastic material. My concern is will that get to hot in the summer to damage the paint, I know this might sound like a dumb question but i"d rather be safe than sorry. Thanks to all that reply in advance.

With a course steel wool pad, or brillo pad, and either lacquer thinner, or carb spray, it will come off. Use the liquid sparingly, and nitrile, or poly gloves to prevent contact (and skin absorption) Outside is best or with good ventilation.
I would not cover the tractor with black poly or any poly. A carport or roof to keep sun off is better. Poly will allow condensation within the cover in moist air, and make more issues than it solves. The cool tractor condenses moisture from the air, and the poly keeps it in.(unless you are in AZ or NM with dry dry conditions) Jim
 
If you are really worried, just buy new ones. They are pretty cheap if buying premade lengths. I always like to have backups around, so keep the old in case of a surprise failure.
 
I agree; I'd just buy new hoses. You know they'll look good, they'd better perform well, and they are cheaper than thoroughly cleaning the old ones (if you place any value on your time).

AGREEING with Jim here.

Covering anything with a Black,blue,yellow"whatever" color of tarp is no good in the long run.


You need to get some venting of trapped moist air around it. Parking it under a "lean to" or a car port would be better than nothing.
 
I went to the local superstore and purchased a light weight car cover for 30 dollars and it fits pretty good, after I cut a hole for the muffler.
