Anyone had much experience with them? I know the twine tie are a hit and miss situation but I've never heard much trouble with wire ties (440s I've been around) except when they are just completely worn out or they catastrophically fail due to something like a board being fed into them.

I used to run a couple 56s wire tie years ago. twister was pretty bullitproof, I assume it is probably about the same with 47 wire

I have a 55 wire.As said it is pretty much bullet proof.Biggest cause for misties is the holder/shear disk gets worn/grooved.Easily fixed with a grinder. If you do buy it,be sure to buy a book ASAP.Be glad to answer any questions/talk.Steve

I ran a wire tie in the early 1950s. It was a big Case baler with a V4 Wisconsin for power. A guy sat on the left side and poked the wires thru to me,and I tied them. Smartest guy drove the tractor, 2nd smartest rode the wagon and loaded, 3rd smartest poked the wires thru and the dumbest tied 'em.

But I have a feeling this info is not of much help to you fellas.

I forgot to tell you about itching, bees, gopher holes, 99+ in the shade, etc. But those bales sure stayed tied!
