Distributor caps

Anyone else have issues with their distributor caps cracking? I put a new one on my sc about two years ago and just put another on today. They crack from the coil plug in the center out to one of the other plugs. I put about 100 hrs a year on it, all year long and it is shedded when not in use.
I know its all about moisture, but couldn"t they make a better plastic that would last longer? Even if it costs more up front for it.

Just my random thoughts on a cold minnesota march evening....

I would say moisture would cause a carbon track but not a crack. I have seen many a tracks but only cracks have been from something like forcing them on or droping them on the concrete.

I have seen them crack from temperature change abuse, wrong cap, poor materials on imported caps, and force applied. Newer caps are made from what appears to be styrene, and not phenolic. Jim

Yes. The only way water is going to crack a plastic cap is by filling up one of the connectors and freezing.

Cracks could result from poor quality control at the factory, though.
