2510Paul 03-16-2013 04:20:01 184.158.71.38 Report to Moderator	I have a friend with back disc issues. Is there an IH with a ride that is more friendly to the back than others? I am thinking in the 50-90 HP range, used for under $10K. For example what models might have the seat a little more forward of the axle, good seat, etc. He is looking to replace his M without Power steering with a 560 with Power Steering. The thing I always notice about that series is the seat seems to be postioned behind the axle. I'm a JD nut so I'm not that up on the IH models. Paul [Reply]   [No Email]

I can hold my back up with my elbows. I never could ride a John Deere seat without back fatigue. It always felt like I was sliding out the front. The IH seats sit flat. [Reply]  [No Email]

Those IH seats (656 thru 1466) are deep and your weight is placed on the back of your legs as opposed to your tailbone. Of my 15 tractors, the best seat is the 826 IH, the absolute worst is a JD 3010. The JD seat is real short and your weight is on your tailbone instead of being spread over a larger area. Roger Tomfohrde 03-16-2013 12:13:36 71.51.129.13 Report to Moderator	Re: Best Ride for Back in reply to 2510Paul, 03-16-2013 04:20:01   756 or 766 with hydraulic seat, either with standard seat is next. 560 good but not as easy to get on, 6XX series great once on the seat but need to contort the body a little to get on. 8XX series like 7XX but stop before you get to the X86-XX88 they do not ride as well because the seat was moved forwards. 06 were good also but shifting alot is somewhat harder to do. I had serious back problem about ten years and the best thing on the farm was the 460 with deluxe seat with a new back cushion. Better than therapy. Farmtracs 665 or 70 or 675 or 80 have the most comfortable seat & backrest going. Int 84 series and Case/IH 85 series, like a 585 or 685 with the deluxe seat (seat has a name which I forget) can be very supportive. [Reply]  [No Email]

ericlb 03-16-2013 07:48:43 72.173.192.59 Report to Moderator	Re: Best Ride for Back in reply to 2510Paul, 03-16-2013 04:20:01   he'll probably need to adapt a seat to his tractor, i have massive back problems too and while i can stand to ride the old iron seats for a hour or two, then i need to get off, the big thing ive found with back issues is the back needs to be suported, not self supported on the spine, best thing ive found is a top end air ride seat for a truck, these are not only air adjustable as to ride height and firmness, but will have air support for the lumbar area, seat back angle adjustment, and adjustable arm rests, plus other features can be added, to make it not only comfortable for hours at a time but provide the ability to change the setup for relief as the day goes on, there not cheap but there sure well worth the investment and can be mounted to a flat surface [Reply]  [No Email]
