Farmall Super A 12-volt - Can you check my schematics take 2

I followed some of ya'll's advice and I put some fuses in my wiring. Can you check this to make sure this is right. Thanks guys!

Looks good! However I suggest omitting the fusible link in the alternator output line for couple reasons:

1 - The alternator is self-limiting for current. Even if shorted to ground it cannot not generate more amps than is stamped on the housing.

2 - Should the fusible link fail (go open) with the engine running it can fry the alternator. (Been there, done that...)

Note also vehicle factory wiring where the 10SI alternator was used does NOT have a fuse/fusible link in the alternator output.

Shorted Diode trio can burn up the tractor. Reversed connections Can blast the alternator or cause fires. I would risk the alternator rather than the tractor. Just me. Jim

The other day when you posted I answered in a hurry (I was at a Bluegrss Festival and was goin pickin) and mentioned placing overload protection in the alternators main output circuit (Im a Conservative remember, better safe then sorry kinda guy) BUT LATER I REALIZED GM DIDNT PLACE ANY PROTECTION THERE!!!

I will add this, on the older 3 wire 10SI systems there was a small wire terminal that was used to SENSE battery voltage and thus regulate the alternators output, but in the one wire it simply senses off the output soooooooooooooo in line with what Bob mentioned I cant say for sure if that circuit sees no voltage (fuze blown) if it will harm the alternator cuz its trying to increase it output???????? Bob seems to think so !!! Me, I simply DONT KNOW

I'm going to be forthright with you all, I COULD NOT have built this tractor without this forum and the knowledge of it's members that had the moniker "tractor guru."

I know nothing about wiring and what I do know I learned from you all. What is the general consensus? EVERY opinion and EVERY piece of advice is respected and taken into consideration.

Should I leave the 80 amp fusible link where it is?

Should I put the 80 amp fusible link on the wire that connects the ammeter to the battery?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I owe so much to so many I will never even meet.

If the fuse gets loose or disconnects it would be like the alt was not limited by battery voltage. But it is controlled by the internal regulator. I do not know if it will save the alternator, I just do not want burnt wiring and fire.
I say an alternator is cheaper than the tractor.
The fuse protects the tractor.
Put it in. Protect it from rain and weather to avoid it corroding an not working. Jim
