Will the cast rear wheel center from a farmall H fit a Farmall 340, axel diameter appears to be the same, the H center has two keyways, the 340 one, I would like to put 38 inch rubber on the 340, thanks, Ben.

I did that a few years back and it was a heck of a chore. The H if I remember right has a double key axle and the 340 a single so to make the H centers work you have to grind the one key down flat which can be done but it is a long slow chore to do. We did it so that the 340 could use 38s instead of the 36 that came on it so yes it can be done but it is not just a simple bolt on and go

A lot of the H centers I have had on parts tractors have had the wheel key broken and only the clamp key holding and they seemed to work fine. They break if the clamp is not kept tightly bolted to the center.

You could take the wheel or the clamp to a weld shop that has an arc gouge, they would make short work of the extra key.

Why? You are going to speed up the ground speed and reduce your pulling power unless you only pull light loads. You may get slightly more flotation. If that is what you want use a wider 36 inch tire, which will also increase the speed because wider tires usually have increased diameter, but not as much.

The 340 we had years ago had 38's factory on it. 12.4 X 38's. It was the FARMALL Row Crop. It's been a long time but the few 340's that were in my area had 38 rears. I think the 240's used 34 in. rear rubber. We pulled a 2-14 2pt hitch plow with it in 2nd gear. Thats been 40 years ago.
