I am working on a 656 international farmall gas. I was wondering how to get the rod that goes through the clutch and brake pedals out. I have heard it just pulls out once everything is disconnected and most of the brake system is removed. but it wont come out. I don"t want to pound on it too hard in case something is hooked to it in the housing. Any help will be appreciated . sorry for the repost forgot to add what it was.

Problem, there is a notch in the shaft to clear the ring gear on differential. You cannot get the shaft out without moving the differential.

So if i get it to line up and pull it out do i need to worry about having anything fall into the housing that won"t allow me to put the new shaft back in without taking it apart further. Since i just put it back together from splitting

Guess I didn't explain myself clearly. There is a notch in the shaft so the ring gear will not rub against the shaft. You have to get the ring gear out of the way to remove the shaft. Last year I had a clutch pedal rebushed but shaft was only wore a little so got by ok. If seals are leaking you can dig them out and replace with shaft in place. If you must take shaft out, you will have to at least take the right side differential support cage out so diff can be moved back a bit, and that will require considerable tear down. The diff support cage will not come out without removing the bull gear.
