farmall H Pitted Cylinder Head How to clean it up?

If the pitting is fairly bad, you may have to take the head to an automotive machine shop and have it planed.

If the pitting is in the combustion chamber, just wire wheel it and get it as clean as possible. If the pitting extends into the valve port, the valve seat is probably compromised also and the seat will need to be replaced. That is not a do-it-yourself job. If the pitting is on the head gasket surface, take it to a machine shop and have it planed.

Actually, the best option, which is probably also the cheapest in the long run, is to just take the complete head to a machine shop and have them do what ever it needs.

run a flat file on it. definitly no grinding wheels. must have been getting coolant into that cyl.that caused the pitting.

Have to agree with Mister T here. Take it to a machine shop and have it checked out. Whenever I have a cylinder head off I get it crack tested as a matter of course. It is great disappointment to remove the head, clean it all up, refit it, attach the manifold etc. and set everything up only to find it blows the gasket again in a short time. My preference, I really hate doing the same job twice.
