Farmall 1026 Hydro just purchased for restoration

Just purchased a Farmall 1026 on auction yesterday. Has 6000 hours showing, hydro seems good owner said it never did any hard pulling just PTO work. Has an egging cab on it, very few leaks at all great rubber. Purchased this tractor for restoration we paid 6000 for it, any advice on this project guys? Never done a hydro just gear drives what could it be worth when finished? Any comments or helpful hints would be great!! Thanks in advance!!
 
A 1026 with a first rate restoration could be worth $15,000 to $20,000. It just depends on the overall condition and attention to detail. They aren't rare but they didn't make a lot of them either. They are for sure collectible.
 
Where are you located? I"d love to see some pics of it if you don"t mind. It sounds like you got a good deal if it"s in decent shape. Out of our thirty plus tractors of different brands the 1026 is the first choice to use for just about everything. Good luck.
 
Im in Windsor Colorado ill try to post some pics of the tractor the cab isnt in very good shape but we were going to get rid of that and put a canopy and fenders on it the rest is really straight with only one small leak, the tractor is virtually leak free which was impresive to me!!
 
Awesome that is kinda what i was thinking we are going to try to do the best restoration job we can do!
 
Thanks I will although im pretty sure its original paint but theres a chance i guess. That would be a neat surprise!
 
Change the hydraulic oil and filters. Use ONLY HYTRAN oil and CIH filters when you do this. Have a sample analyzed (sp?) of the old oil to see if any internal issues may be coming.
 
You need to get that hydro out and work it... Get it hit to see if its really in good shape or not. Had an old 544 that couldn't do much in high range when it got hot.
 
Thanks for the advice we were definetly planing on changing all fluids and filters then we we get a chance we will take it out and work it
