The clutch shaft is coupled to the trans input shaft with a Ujoint like coupling. THat would allow the clutch shaft to wiggle. It is not to have play in it, it is not designed to have bearings, but tapered sleeves and special bolts. The trans input shaft should not have play. The Bearing pilot was probably damaged in a clutch "event" . Jim

| Thanks, that's what I suspected for the input shaft. It seems like it is as designed but it is so different than what I am used to looking at. I have had this tractor for 7 years and I know the guy who had it before me had it for about 10, he never worked it beyond a baler and a hay wagon so whatever it was that broke that sleeve must have been a long time ago. Thanks again for the answer.
