Marty and ebay

I have sold a lot of stuff on eBay and bought some. Watch for sellers who do not know what they or selling or they are being willingly dishonest. Do not ever believe an add for a particular model part until you have verified the part yourself. For items such as wheel weights the photo makes it easy enough. Other things like planter plates can be a crap shoot since the sellers do not always know what they are selling, especially if they never actually used the item. Be certain that enough specifications are presented to accurately describe the item.

Never mind, I found it. The man has shipped 11,500+ old rusty used parts in the past 12 months and 36 people have complained. I'm not sure that is such a bad record.

They never complain twice. He bans you after the first time...

Thats what I wondered about. If he gets a bunch of complaints after bought like these are not SM gears, caburetor, ETC. Going to be several persons baned. Even has a rear fuel tank support with a starter switch hole and a seat not even used on a stage 2 SM. Looks like he could be using a early M serial number 52439 and calling it a 54 SM.

thats what he did to me the stupid jerk sold 2 of the same items I got the cheaper one of the 2 I pay the man wait about 10 days no part contact says it was mailed to so and adress not mine I asked for a refund he baulked about it had to get it from pay pal that took 30 days every once a see an item he has for sale try to bid and blocked

What I can't figure out is why anyone who got screwed on an EBAY item would EVER try to buy from the same seller again, no matter what his "nick" was. Then come on here and complain that a seller that had screwed them once was helping them avoid it happening again by blocking them?????? Inquiring minds want to know! I've read so many complaints about this guy I would never bid on anything he had to sell.......why would someone who feels they got a bad deal/service from the seller ever try to buy from them again? Masochist?

(quoted from post at 22:25:14 02/18/13) Who is this Marty? I can't find a seller on ebay as described (36 negs).

He's a guy who parts out old tractors and sells those parts on EBAY. It is alleged that he isn't very honest in his descriptions and that if a buyer has a problem he is very slow to respond if at all. It's also claimed that if you try to question him he will block you from his auctions. Now the first time I read complaints about him I reasoned that I would not buy from this guy until I knew the truth. He has posted on these pages to defend himself as well as people complaining about his tactics and service.Sense there has been no proof one way or the other I will not risk my money on him. That's what Ebay is anyway. A gamble. So I have now stopped using EBAY.

Never mind, found him. Yeah I like to read negative reviews. I would be concerned with the items getting "lost" in the mail lol.

LOL some of the people who compalin about him the most are the ones who buy a part from him sight unseen for 50 bucks when the going rate is 100. Then when he refuses to refund the money wind up going to a local tarctor salvage yard and paying the full price anyway. So now they have 150 in a 100 buck part minus the 3 bucks of scrap they have. That's just too funny to me. What's even funnier is they go back and bid on his stuff again! I think they have a bullseye on thier backs!

(quoted from post at 06:06:21 02/19/13) Pay with PayPal. If you do not get the item, they help you or get your money back.

I just avoid the whole hassle and A. buy from someone I know or B. from a tractor slavage yard or C. from someone generally from this site.

What happens when A, B, and C don't have the part and Marty does?

So does any credit card company -- you are liable for $50 and most waive that. Pay Pal helps the seller, it has no advantage for the buyer, as it is charged to my credit card anyway, I don't have to pay until any problems are settled in favor of the seller.

Marty might be the only one on EBAY with the part you need, but unless it is something super rare, that part is also available from an honest seller, somewhere. Even if it was a super rare part, Marty wouldn't know. He burned me once. He'll never get another chance.

I blame Paypal for ripping me off to the tune of $230. I believe it was someone who worked for them, they did not help get my money back. I just got the run-around.

Wengers dot com has most parts unless they are very rare. You will pay for them, but I would rather do that and know what I am getting. I use ebay very little. I did get a SM grill from there-not Marty. It had been "reconditioned" and painted, looked ok when I saw the picture, was satisfactory when I first got it, but it took several days when I got into it to remove all the body filler, get the dents to the level I wanted and replace the body filler. Still have to paint it.

OK, you got me started.

I am actually on the plus-dollar side regarding business with Marty. His eBay account rep made him refund about $175 in fees and shipping. He also made him two day ship a Fast Hitch bail and I got the part and shipping for free. Big bucks there. eBay is watching him closely. If you have a complaint, just use the eBay Buyer Protection Plan.

Marty made a big mistake by not refunding shipping on returned parts. That really PO"ed eBay.

I would still do business with Marty but I am blocked. I suspect he has a huge "blocked bidder's list". That is so stupid. Every time I can't place a bid, it costs him money. Multiply that by many hundreds of people, and it has to hurt his bottom line. It takes very little to make his list. Just an email asking a question could be enough. We have had people here testify to that fact.

Anyway, if he had something I really wanted, my friend down the street will bid and take delivery. I haven't used him yet because I pass over most anything with a $9.99 listing when it appears in an eBay email.

LOL true "the only one ON ebay". Bet the tractor slavageplace outside of Barnsville MN has more rare parts than Marty every dreamed of. Plus you and I are both within reasonable driving distance of them.

Rick

Marty's not a crook, just incompetent. I've received parts that where not even mine. Next thing I know I've got the original purchaser calling me to schedule an appt to pick them up.

I've had one issue, parts missing that where in the pics, he corrected it quickly.

I've bought several parts that worked just fine. They were not described very well but I knew what they were.

Not exactly a positive endorsement, but as hard as some of these parts are to find I'll take what I can get.
