Farmall sidewalk snowplow

Spotted this sidewalk snowplow headed for home after finishing its route this morning.

This H is one of a fleet of 40 or so similarly equipped H, M, 300, etc. tractors contracted to plow sidewalks in our area (Rochester, NY).

I suspect the stack is like that to minimize damage from low-hanging tree branches...
 
theres a few of them running aroun one cuts down my street in chili and ive seen them in the city a few times too , couple different models too
 
N100sb - Chili indeed! That one was spotted on a side street just off Attridge Rd.
 
I would guess its to redirect the fumes. I know on our old tractor that heater house would work like a screwed up airfoil and pull the exhaust funes right in on top of you.
 
We were wondering if he was still operating, because I haven't seen any of those tractors around in a long long time.

Saw an Oliver set up like that on a trailer last fall. Can't remember where it was but I think it was in Spencerport.
 
Here's that Oliver outfit on display at the Churchville Lions show a few years ago.

I think the tractor is a 770 though I'm not positive.

I still can't believe the city plows the sidewalks for you. Here in WI it is the landowners responsibility.
 
sflem849 - There is a downside: Here in upstate NY we pay some the highest combined taxes in the nation to pay for stuff like that.

Good point, nothings free.
 
It's a money grab by the state DMV.

If a tractor is operated for commercial purposes on public roads it must be registered/insured and display a "special commercial" license plate.

Tractors used strictly for farm use (ie. not for hire) are exempt.
