Here are some pictures of the rear left drive shaft removed. I was replacing brakes but obviously I have a seal issue. Any pointers about installing new seals? Thank you

Ok. I'm gonna sound like a Jack A#$ - I'm sorry. make sure you put them in right side up. Looks great though ! reminds me of my A restoration which was a pleasure to work on.

Know dad replaced some rear axel seals in a ihc b he worked on, and I don't think he had any real issues, and I'm thinking he just fallowed the I&T book. Think that's also what he did on the super c he replaced the seal in.

The pics are right side up. Can I access the seals from the outside or do I need to address this from the inside of the tranny too ? Thanks for the help

Drill small hole and then use sheet metal screws and it should pop rite out. How are the one in the final does it need replacing also.

I replced seals in mine last year. I used a home made slide hammer to remove old seals. Just weld a angel on the end that will fit through seal and pop them out it's just that easy.

Just dawned on me, funny you should be using blue primer too, as that's what Dad used on the B he cleaned up. Till we painted it red, it sure looked wrong being all blue.

I am in the process of resealing a 1950 C right now also. I went a head and pulled the axle on mine on advise I got from this site. Glad I did. I have a grove in my inner and outer axle where the seal rides. Going to a machine shop on Friday to see how best to address this. The dang seals are pricey so I want it to seal good and not have to do it agian in a year.

This is why mine was leaking. The axle has a small grove worn into it. I dont think the new seal would even touch the axle.

The pics were right side up on the thumbnail Now their flipped weird! Anyway thanks for the advice. By the way the primer is regular flat gray It just looks blue in the picture

I pulled the seal with a slap hammer. It was chattered up pretty bad. New seal went in without a hitch. I don"t see any grooves on the shaft. Hopefully no more leakage. I replaced both brakes after cleaning the gear oil off the drum. They don"t bottom out anymore! Thank goodness for a winch or this would have been a PITA
