mike farmer 02-09-2013 08:33:50 82.6.32.224 Report to Moderator	Gretings. A friend has a head problem with his TD9. Bubbles in the radiator but fortunately no sign of any oil at this stage. Hopefully its only the gasket but the head has to come off whatever. So he is in need of a head gasket and we are unable to source one at this stage. Do you, or anybody else, know much about punching 4.4" sleeves out to 4.5" sleeves? I have read on RPM that it can be done and actually have a parts motor that has had it down, but that doesn't mean it should be done. [Reply]  [No Email]

It had good detail, complete with accurate sleeve dimensions and details on the applications for the two different head gaskets that were used on D335's & D350's. All I really did was organize it a little and put it on a proper document so that I would have it for future reference. What is the best way to get it to you? Often, the cracks (usually more than one) are big enough that you can see them. Cracked heads are really common--I have four cracked ones piled up in my shop now. [Reply]  [No Email]

Remove the head and check it out before you spend the money on a head gasket. Finding a replacement head will be much more difficult than sourcing a head gasket. I bought some head gaskets from CNH for the D335/D350 engines last fall. CNH part number 273668R3. They are composite gaskets now, the original metal ones are no longer available. I have not heard any complaints about the composite ones. [Reply]  [No Email]

Recently a friend of mine put a d335 gasket in a d350 and did not realize it was sitting ON TOP of the fire wall on the sleeve. It broke every sleeve when he torqued it! [Reply]  [No Email]

Schwantes, 02-09-2013 21:48:03   The stock D335 and D350 used the same head gasket UNLESS that D335 had 4.5" overbore sleeves put in it then there is a different head gasket used for those overbore sleeves only. The overbore sets were not common in my area so I never have had to worry about using the wrong gasket. The D335 overbore head gasket if used on original D335 4.4" sleeves or a D350 will rest on top of the firewall of the sleeves causing serious problems. I have a really good explanation of the head gasket & sleeve differences from Weber Tractor parts that I can send to anyone who wants it. [Reply]  [No Email]
