I have a 12 hole weight bracket for my 706. I am not near the tractor till this weekend and I am wondering what size bolts are required to fasten the bracket to the tractor? Thanks In advance!

I believe that 3/4 nc is correct. The length will depend on whether the bracket is the steel welded construction or the cast bracket that was used on later tractors. The welded bracket should have a 2 inch or 2.5 inch length. 1/4 Lock washer + 1/2 inch steel bracket plus a minimum of 1 inch of threads into tractor. Check the parts listing on the web for the IH "Official" length.

It takes 3/4x2 GR8 NC cap screw and a flat washer, no lock washer, I used to set up new 06 series. Get a reputable GR8 from dealer or industrial supplier. My first try doing this I used a GR5, the customer bought a new 706 & 4-16 rollover plow. It was very heavy on the 3 pt hitch & with 10 weights just kept the front wheels down. He was plowing & the bolts broke with the tractor front end in the air, he couldn't back or go forward because the weights were caught under the tractor at the hitch. Well he had to walk to get his Super M and drag weights out then put it all back together.

Really? A '7' and 4x16 (642))?Where i'm from,a 4x16 is usually too much for an 806,sometimes even the 856.But I have seen a few of them (8*6s),but never a '7'.

Yes it was a load but he had traction, good black soil along a creek in a river valley. I drove the outfit 3 miles on road new when I delivered it, it was just enough on front end to steer it.
