I have a 300 without a TA. Has this been put in later or is it factory? what parts do I need to put one in and how hard is it to instal one?

You could buy them from the factory without a TA. I suspect it would be a big job to add one as it affects the PTO as well. I'm sure there are others that could answer that question better.

Friend of mine ordered a new IH 300 without hydraulics or t/a. Said all he needed was pto. He hooked it to a 16 ft. grain swather and when he died his son unhooked it for the estate sale.

The easiest solution is to trade it for one with a TA to those who would rather not have one. The next easiest is to purchase a 300 or 350 with TA and swap out the back half of the tractor.
THere are many unique to TA components in the drive line and PTO that are dependent on the TA setup. SOme option equipped tractors might be easier, but none are easy. From the primary clutch, to the trans input components and levers and linkages, it is time consuming. Jim

If it has independent pto the tractor center housing needs removed and some other parts installed. If it has a transmission driven pto, some changes need to be made in the transmission also. Plus maybe a main clutch pressure plate. Plus a IPTO and drive shafts. Maybe would not have to go in the trans, but the pto would slow down when the t/a was used.
Letter or letters after the tractor serial number will tell if the tractor came without a t/a.

My brother and I are installing a TA into a 460 utility that we received from our uncle. It did not have a TA from the factory. We found a complete center section at a tractor recycling yard, for cheap. Picking out the best parts, should make a much nicer, more usefull tractor when we are done.

No you can use your existing rear end, and just replace the TA section with one out of a parts tractor.

email me your number will be easier. or I"ll email mine. ([email protected]) I need to see what all you have first, to see if what I have will work for you. Yes, the t/a is good. everything came out off a running tractor that got low oil pressure. so I decided to part it, instead of overhaul. Thanks, Rusty
