Farmall 806-3 point will not lower

On my Farmall 806 the 3 point hitch will not go to the ground. It will rise up all the way and will lower about 1/2 way down. It will lower to the ground slowly after tractor is shut down for hour or more.

My 806 was doing about the same thing only it wouldn't go down at all. Pulled the top cover off and seen that draft control linkage was messed up.

is the draft control lever all the way forward? will it go down with some weight on it (an implement)?

the fact that it will settle in an hour means internal leakage. it should stay up overnight.

Most likely cause is draft sensing arm coming up from lower shaft has jumped past the pickup lever inside. Take rear third arm plate off to get in to get it back in place. Often happens when backing up with something like a snow blower giving negative draft sensing movement inside mechanism. May require some ingenuity repairs like welding washer on link to prevent it from happening again. Some times just moving the vertical arm over a bit will cure them but that also require removal of pto to get to the u-bolt clamping arm to torsion bar.

Pete, Where is the rear third arm plate? Mazemeister, The draft control leaver is all the way forward & I have a box blade attached to the 3 point hitch. Farmalldairy, Top cover? Where the leavers attach to the rod linkage going down?

The draft sensing arm jumped past the pickup lever. Removed the plate above the pto and there it was. Couldn’t have been an easier fix. Thanks for all the advice.
