Hello,A while back I had posted that I had gotten a Char-Lynn power steering torque amplifier model 101 and am planning to put it on my M. I have started working on it again. The question is can you turn the control end or the power end of the torque amplifier when it's disconnected from pressure? On this one you can only turn the power end just a little bit. Again never have worked on these before any help would be apreciated. Thanks |

The first few degrees are easier as what you are doing at that point is just operating the internal valve. This is when it applies the pressure to the torque generator for the "power" to turn it. After that, when the tractor is not running, you still have a mechanical link-up to steer if need be, but it will turn hard. I don't recall how many degrees the valve movement it, but it's not much. |

| Use a little prick punch and mark both halves with a small dot opposite each other so you know where it was initially. |

| You can turn them but it won't be easy. They have the mechanical link between the sides so turning one side should turn the other. If you put a pipe wrench on it you should be able to, but I never have as I figure that can't be good for it. It takes a lot of force to make the "star" wobble and all those pieces rotate. |
