B414 generator to alternator

My B414 gas still has the generator that does not work. I am considering putting a 12v one wire alternator on it. To my knowledge all I have to do is run a single wire from the post on the alternator to the positive battery post. I have already reversed the polarity to negative ground so I could jump it with my truck without getting fireworks.

Recommend either a Hitachi, or 10SI Delco alt wired with 3 wires, the use of the 3 wire setup allows no battery drain when parked not running, it also charges with no revving to get it to excite. If it has no amp gauge, wire it as though the amp gauge was a continuation of the wire. If using the smaller Hitachi alt from a mid 1980s Nissan PU, the S is the same as the #2 terminal the L is the same as #1 terminal on the Delco. Use insulated spade connectors on either one for short protection. The thin wire from the starter to the ballast resistor coil side is the resistor bypass and comes from the I terminal (hot when cranking) terminal.
