450 LP Power Steering, getting air out of system.

Well I just got my Behlin torque generator back from Steel Wheel Ranch, and everything is in place, good pump, all new lines, system flushed out, refilled with fresh fluid, but my power steering isn't working, much. I know I've got plenty of pressure at the pump...I think that I have air in the lines...which ones do I need to crack open...all of them? Pressure and return lines? Also, if my priority flow divider valve is not working, how does a person go about determining for sure that it is the problem? Thanks to all in advance, Hugh.

You and I still working on the same thing!
I did get mine primed and working but it still loses prime after it sits a while so I'm going to have to get into the rest of it. Possibly the gasket between the reservoir and the valve bodies is leaking.

I broke the pressure line after the pump loose and cranked the engine with the starter to very fluid pumping there. Next I took the pressure line off of the Behlin unit and directed it at a bucket and started the engine. After a short bit it spit out a couple of blobs of oil and then went to pumping. I shut down and re-hooked the line to the Behlin and everything worked after that.

Need to add that I initially had to give the reservoir slight pressurization with a rubber tipped air gun pressed against the hole for the vent.

I have a 400. After I put the system back together, it steered with a fair amount of difficult. Over time it got better all by itself. I think the manual will tell you to turn the wheel all the way to the left and then back to the right all the way, and to continue until the air is worked out.

How di you get ahold of the dude at steel wheel ranch. I can't find any contact info on his site. Thanks Kent

It took me some digging, but I finally got it, and here it is: 785-548-7437. Mike or Jim will answer, and they have been real good guys, I will definitely do business with them again. Hugh

Yes, and I'm gonna try this too! I have my camera now, and I'm gonna try to take some pics this evening and send them sometime tomorrow...thanks, Centex, for your patience!

The site no longer exists, the one you got says the web title is for sale (the title, not the business). Mike does not have time to mess with it. His son used to be the web manager, but is now in the military last I heard. Mike will do everything he can to help you, he is on the phone taking orders most of the time, and only has one employee, I think. I have purchased numerous parts and 3 tractors from him in the last 10 years.

What makes you think its air? My 400 bled out well. Shoot me a line and ill offer the hard earned education I received last winter wight that power steering system.
