Dave I-9 01-27-2013 17:50:36 24.59.107.200 Report to Moderator	Well I dont post a lot on here but read the forums all the time... Had a 1942 I-9 follow me home today. Bought it from a friend that has had it in his barn for 10-15 years. Dad and i took a ride up to look at it last week, went back up today with my truck and trailer, a battery, spare carb, and some fresh gas. Serial number ends in Y-14 did some research on the web, some suggested US Navy others said it just meant starting and lighting. Any opinions? Lots of yellow paint underneath. This is the fourth 9 series tractor ive dragged home since i was 14, first one that seems to have a good engine so far. no smoke and a rebuild tag from 2/1949 :) Started out on a search for rear wheels for my W-9 ended with another whole tractor... thought id share a pic. I would consider trading this id9. It has nice rear tires and wheels. Some old tractors have to die to save the others. I need sheet metal for an o4. I know how hard it is to find good old parts and it is getting tougher every year. This this old cab tractor would be missed but the engine work it needs would be a decade long project for me.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Dont worry i wont be changing the rear tires on this one. I havent seen rears like these before they appear to be recaps. The size is 13-32 but i have it parked next to my 450 with 15.5-38's and they are only a hair shorter. Ill post a few pics of the other red stuff tomorow. Dave   [Reply]  [No Email]

IH was bad to fabricate it, give it a quick coat of paint and ship it to sell. Our local dealer always added a coat of paint to tractors that came in on trade. Yellow usually ment that the tractor had seen some use by the DOT or some road construction company.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Started with a Cub and now multiple 9 series. :lol: Nice!!! You need rims or tires for the W-9? Pomps sold me Firestone 14.9-34s for $1400 this summer. I didn't think that was bad at all. I own them, but they are still sitting at Pomps. Don't you dare change out those tires on the I-9!!! Y-14 is starting and lighting. Navy tractors usually have an anchor on the tag. The yellow is actually the factory paint more than likely, as in many industrials I have seen were originally yellow, or a shade of it. One of the few Ive seen that were red from the factory is my I-4. (No hint of yellow anywhere on it), and some of the industrail As and one M.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Two years ago my son and I brought a ID-9 home to our collection. We haven't done much with it other than use it on the farm and he took it to a show. Gona restore someday. We've been working the 650 diesel for 5 years and getting closer to done and then last fall we brought a WD6 home. It has a older reseration so probably won't do much with that other than use it on the farm. I sure like to see the young people interested in collecting.   [Reply]  [No Email]

Its always fun to drag a new one home. I bought my first cub when i was 12, and it has gotten to be somewhat of an addiction from then on. Hoping to have this one done up in yellow with something behind it for the 2014 pageant of steam when they feature construction equip... Anyone know what the correct paint code is for the IH yellow? Glad you posted...and a winter trip at that, good for you and your dad. A photo taken at that angle shows us a much more interesting image vs. one at a 90 degree angle and the overcast light allows us to see detail in the otherwise shadow areas. I like the deck-over trailers. Those old girls sure have a deep engine. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, lots of yellow as primer for IH iron. Post some more.
