Why?Chevy Silverado

They are cleaning up a lot and turning it into a baseball field.

The A is supposed to be among the pile of junk that they're cleaning up.

I can only imagine that they thought it was a piece of constuction equipment, they just weren't sure how to use it. Or maybe trying to grab the scrap thief market share? Morons in action, nothing less. I had to stop it a few times, I almost think it is a little Allis-Chalmers???

The A looked to be incredibly nice with the plow, why not just pull it out nicely.

"I think I know why they did this to one of the smallest tractors ever made"

danmcdonald I think your right

I thought it had been determined last year it as an Allis, by someone who lived near there or something, and most of it was gone to start with.

Take a good look as it's rolling over, the torque tube is centered between the axles, not an A. Might be a B but I'm still betting A-C.

Someone posted this a while back, sying it was a Farmall, but someone else who lives near there or something said they knew where that was or lived near there or something. I do remember that, but dont know who it was, should be in the archives somehwere. Seems the whole front end was gone off of it, engine and all, and the angle makes it look like its all there.

"Scrap thieves???"

Sometimes I wonder about you guys.

I thought the commercial told a pretty straightforward story:

John Mellencamp's "This is Our Contry" plays in the background.
Man with new Chevy pickup finds baseball on abandoned lot on outskirts of city.
Man remembers playing catch there as a kid with his dad and their 1980's Chevy pickup.
Man begins cleaning up abandoned lot.
Friends with more new Chevy pickups and heavy equipment arrive to help.
Man and friends clean up junk on lot, including an old tractor.
Man and friends build beautiful baseball field on lot.
Man crouches in front of new Chevy pickup and smiles about what they accomplished.

Oh, Ford, where Dennis Leary SCREAMS at you about how stupid you are for buying anything else, and words pop up on the screen from all angles?

Guy and kid are trespassing on a lot, buddies help him steal the scrap metal and turn it into a playground for themselves.

Government Motors promoting squatters and theives.

(quoted from post at 17:31:40 01/22/13) 68 was last year chevy made a good pickup
That is stupid. What ever would make even the dumbest person flip a tractor over and over on its side vs ....just pulling it, I will never know.
I swear the people making these commercials come up with the most idiotic things thinking no one will notice.

Wow, we are wound a little tight around here. Didn't see the tractor being flipped over and over, it went from on its top to its wheels. Might have went back to the side again. Two seconds of the commercial.

But take a deep breath, its only a piece of scrap tractor not even complete. I'm sure the people making the commercial paid good money for that old tractor as part of the set. You think it just happened to be half buried on the property they were going to make into a ball field? Nope, that tractor was a prop for the commercial. Sure there might have been some usable parts on it but so are the other thousands sitting out in the weeds rusting into the ground. We can save some of them but not all. Its a commercial to sell something - it definately got your attention.

I find it funny that after someone said it was an AC the tone changed. Why? Because it wasn't our beloved red tractor being abused? LOL, come on. Relax - there is still a lot of winter left.

I think you have that mystery solved, inspector!
In my opinion, it did appear though hard to really be sure, that the truck was continuing to pull. Obviously they are trying to demonstrate the trucks strength while completely sacrificing brains.

I have ALWAYS despised (AKA HATED) GMC as a company. To see them abuse history like that bugs the hell out of me. That and the commerial about the truck driving thru the snow bouncing around and describing it as a 315hp NUT CRACKER doesn't do them much good either. After alwho would want to drive a truck that is labeled by its manufacturer as a NUT CRACKER? Doesn't sound very comfy to me. LOL

You guys need to watch the "director's cut" of the commercial.

There is a scene missing from the beginning, where it shows the man shaking hands with a man wearing a top hat, tails, and a monocle, and receiving a piece of paper clearly marked DEED.

Rick, just curious why you break it off at '68? I liked the 68 models (owned a 67 which is nearly identical), but there is very little difference between the 68 through 72 models other than minor changes to the grilles, hood, and some trim.

I am a Dodge guy, with GM next. I work on them all, and I dislike working on Fords more than anything...They are NOT engineered with service in mind. As far as service minded engineering goes, the Big 3 could learn alot from Toyota IMHO.

Any of you guys been to a movie with car crashes or where they blow stuff up? They make about as much sense and this is pretty tame by comparison.

They're showing about what I'd expect from a Chevy guy... no common sense. (although, having said that, I'm not real happy with my wife's Lincoln right now.. got an intermitant electrical glitch somewhere)

(quoted from post at 12:11:15 01/22/13) Nut Cracker appeals to a crowd that votes democratic and wants to change what legal marriage means.

Nobody that votes that way would ever take a truck like that off dry pavement. Only real manly men go pounding through the woods in the middle of winter at high speed with a brand new truck. Pain is a badge of honor to be worn proudly, especially pain implied by the phrase "nut cracker."

I don't know why the big uproar about them rolling tractor over! Nobody said anything about all the tractors people used to cut up to make modified pulling tractors.

I agree with someone that commented about being wound a little tight, and perhaps itching to stir a Ford vs Dodge vs Chevy discussion that never accomplish much :). With that said, I have seen rediculous commercials from all of them (Chevy included). A Toyota Tundra towing a space shuttle is not that far off from this deal. Or the Dodge Hemi truck drag racing commercials (those Hemi trucks are a far cry from a Top Fuel drag car). Or the Ford commercial from years back with Charles Bronson in it (name of movie slips my mind). It's all about the marketing. Come to think of it - I doubt the people behind the scenes or who produced the commercial are "Chevy Guys"......or even drive pickups at all. High paid marketing companies, and actors would be my bet.

Yep, showing how much you can accomplish with their government built truck. Plus a green spin on it. They are converting an old, over grown lot into a nice ball field so the little kids will have a place to play. You know, keep them off the streets and away from assault rifles and violent video games. Yep, Chevy and the government are here to save and protect the US of A.
