But JimB says the marks are on the pulley. So simply set it to the advanced mark with the engine wide open(fully advanced) then check that the timing backs off as you slow the engine to idle. jimb2 01-21-2013 17:42:11 99.241.76.141 Report to Moderator	Re: Timing on BC 144 in 3444 backhoe in reply to Farmall47, 01-21-2013 16:40:43   Hi Farmall47, I looked in my Operator manual: Points - 0.014, Plugs - 0.024 to 0.026 Tappet(Hot) - 0.022 And for timing consult IH but I searched this site and found: Your BC144 engine does not have a timing chain. Set points as .014" Static timing (non running or idling)for early engines is 5 degrees BTDC. Timing at high RPM at full advance is 39 degees BTDC. Timing marks are on the crank pulley.
