d211smith 01-21-2013 11:40:45 50.140.164.140 Report to Moderator	Hello fellas i have a very early farmall regular that a couple ih collectors looked at a few years ago and told me it was VERY EARLY serial number, the tractor has sit out for prob 40 yrs or more, well long story short i finally pulled the tractor into the shop and noticed that some SOB MOTHER F***** decided that they needed the serial number plate off of the toolbox i was wanting to know where else the serial number was located and can i get another tag out there somewhere? thank you for any information. sorry for the bad language im just really upset right about now [Reply]   [No Email]

Look for a flat on the engine block, IIRC, on the carb side up near the front. If the block is early, i would say it is a fairly safe bet the tractor is too. Any way you can post some pictures? Mid 27 to mid 29 had them in front of the radiator on the left side. Mid 29 and newer had them back by the clutch housing on the left side just like an F20. Engine serial will be your only number assuming the block hasn't been changed out. As far as repo tags go, with the exception being sold by Mrs. Deiner they are pretty much Crap. I've seen them all and the craftsmanship of the late Mr. Deiner's tags were as good as factory IH. [Reply]  [No Email]
d211smith 01-21-2013 16:52:13 50.140.164.140 Report to Moderator	Re: Early farmall regular?? in reply to Old-F20, 01-21-2013 15:37:50   i forgotten about the number on the engine matching the other tractor number i do remember those guys saying that it was the same. i will look tomorrow when im back out there the engine is currently out of the tractor i took it out and put it in a shed at the farm. i do remember thinking that it would be a LOT easier to have a donor engine because this tractor was so bad the crankshaft was rusted beyond salvaging and the clutch was totaly destroyed along with about everything else. to be 100% honest i was going to scrap this tractor until these two ih collectors started drooling over it and begged me to sell it. but for the most part it is BAD SHAPE the tank had shotgun holes no hood no tires though rear wheels were still out of the dirt is there anybody out there with a possible donor tractor for sale or a LOT of parts? thank you and i will post some pics and a serial #. thank you guys so much. i look forward to posting updates. I looked and called all over the place trying to get one replicated with raised lettering...but sounds like it is not possible due to laws govering the usage of the chemicals used in the original process. Here are two pics. The reproductions are available at www FordsonHouse DOT com. We bought one from a junkyard as we wanted to keep the look of an old, worn one - having the correct serial number did not matter to us as much as having that old look (we are keeping our Regular rusty - it will never be repainted). My husband will have to do a little repair to the holes in the plate though. And yes, the serial number for your tractor should also be stamped into the top side of the left frame near the area of the radiator. [Reply]  [No Email]

The one I am familiar with is stamped on the top of the left-side frame rail, adjacent to the engine. It may be under a few layers of paint/rust. Scrape carefully, it may not be stamped very deep into the frame. [Reply]  [No Email]
