SC Throttle Problem

The throttle on my Super C moves as it should but doesn't move the rod to the carb. I assume something is amiss in the governor ? Can someone tell me what parts I need to order and how difficult it will be to make the fix. Thanks

Your input lever on the gov is probably worn and is a sloppy fit and needs a new bushing. The spring mite have the hooks worn and loose holes whey are hooked worn. Linkage to the carb needs to be checked for proper adjustment. Little play here and there soon adds to poor gov response.

In this case it went from workinf perfectly to not working at all. Wouldn't that sound more like the spring broke?
Thanks

When I have been inside the gov's on the A's, I have had to go though the front. Meaning you will need to pull the radiator, but you will be able to leave the distributor in place. The spring is in the gov housing. If you end up pulling the gov weight assembly out, watch the timing marks is all. While you are in there, check the bearing too.

No you dont need to remove the dist. Just dont move the gear that drives it. Its not easy but it can be done ive done it many times. Get the new spring from IH for the A or B as they take the same. If theres no response from the throttle thats the problem. Check the bearings on the shaft they are in three parts its called a thrust bearing..

The governor housing will come off without touching the distributor or the drive gear. It's not very difficult, but you do need three different wrenches to get all the bolts out. Some need a deep well socket, some a shallow, and one or two will only come out with a box wrench.

Make sure you pay attention to which bolt comes from which hole.

The only reason to remove the gear and weights is if something is wrong with the weights.
