farmall m rear tires

I have had M's with 11.2 x 38's on them and I have seen 18.4 x 38's on them. The rim size will determine what you can put on it.

Gene is correct, rims have a range of tires that fit them. You could almost any rim / tire size on an M.

I had a set of 14.9/38 tires on my H that I really liked, so now I have them on the 300 which took the place of the H. I would think that for putting power to the ground the M would do well with 13.6 or 14.9 or 15.5 depending what you have or can find cheaply. I think the 12.4 would have been factory, and for cultivation I imagine that the narrower size would be handy.

Except for those who like the looks of bigger tires, I really doubt if there is a reason to go bigger than 12's(13.6's). We had an H with 11 (12.4)-38's. When pulling a plow at full load the land tire slipped a little, that meant it needed a little more weight, the furrow tire did not slip. 13.6's on an M should be fine. If 14.9's were used the ground speed goes up which reduces power. Other than looks for people that like them 15.5's seem like overkill, but they have the same diameter as 13.6's.

12.4 or 13.6 X38" seems to be pretty common.

I put 15.5X38" on my Farmall 300, similar HP to M. It looks cool and it smoothed the ride out a bit. This is a shredder tractor for me so I haven't notice any loss in HP. I do like the increase speed in the road gear.
